FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Does this program accept insurance?

No, we are a non-profit organization. We do ask for an entry fee, but we turn no one away due to a lack of funds.

What is the length of the program, and do I have to stay for the entire program?
The Gastonia's Potters House is an 18 month residential program. The 18-month stay is split into two phases. The first 9 months signify "First Phase".  In this phase, clients are focused on building a relationship with Christ and addressing their addictions and life-altering issues. The second 9 months signify "Second Phase". Once in the second phase, clients are encouraged to use the skills they have learned while in the program and in their walk with Christ to seek employment, save their earnings, and work towards graduation and reintegration into society. In order to get the full benefit of the program, we advise all clients complete the full 18 months. Clients are asked to sign an 18-month commitment upon admission.

How do I obtain an application for admission?

You may fill out our Application Request Form on the Client Application page, and a staff member will email you the full application within three business days. You may also call our office directly at (704).824.3698 to request an application immediately.

What are your requirements for detoxing?
We would like for the client to be clean 72 hours before entering our program, but this is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Detox centers can be recommended by our office staff if needed. A drug test will be given to each applicant upon entry.

What is your policy regarding home visitation?
There are no visits in the first 30 days after entry. Once a client has been at the facility for 30+ days, they are permitted one visit per month. This visit is generally the first weekend of every month. Your visit must be approved by staff before visitation, and a signed release form must be turned in before leaving the premises. With every off-site visit, the client is responsible for paying a $20 drug test fee upon return. Home visits are permitted on a more frequent basis during second phase.

Is smoking permitted?
The Potters House is a non-smoking facility. Clients are allowed to purchase and use vapes.

What items will I need to bring?
A Christian Bible, if possible.  Appropriate clothing to wear to church and classes. Clients are generally eligible to receive food stamps through Gaston County upon program entry if needed. This process can take up to two weeks; clients are encouraged to purchase or bring in groceries if possible during this time.

What items are NOT allowed?
Students are not permitted to have cars, radios, T.V's, computers or cell phones during first phase.  Narcotic medications are not permitted, and all other medications, including over-the-counter medicines, must receive prior approval from staff.

Requirements:

You must come willingly, desiring a Christian life and victory. You must fill out and return a Gastonia's Potters House application before being accepted. We cannot give medical care.
